Nurture
‘Nurture’ is a resource program to provide support for parents and families of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Essentially, ‘Nurture’ provides information and also introduces parents to the techniques that can help them in their interactions with children with ASD.

Nurture is a unique program because it includes a therapeutic component which helps parents deal with challenging behaviours, and helps them cope with the emotional repercussions of having a child diagnosed with ASD.

All skills take practice and most people need to use new skills over and over again before they remember how and when to use them. The more practice people have, the more likely they will be able to use the new skills in new and difficult situations.

Content for this interactive and engaging multimedia program was provided by a team of experts including;

  • Anne R. Cummings, Ph.D., BCBA Clinical Director, Central East Preschool Autism Service
    and
  • Margaret L. Bissell, B.A., M.Ed. Associate Director, Autism Services Kinark Child and Family Services

    "Demonstrates that youth are understanding and taking in content much moreso than completing pencil/paper homework"

    "Youth’s retention is high, the concepts are simple enough that they can understand them and relate something visual to them, thus retaining more information"
